Gentle giant Vijay Avinandan notched an emotional victory by defeating his doubles-mate Chinmay Pradhan in the exciting last of the men`s singles quarterfinal match of the 10th All-Orissa Nalco Open Tennis Tournament at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today.
Lara (Vijay) expressed his joy by shouting `com`on` while Chintu threw his racket in despair after the latter hit a forehand out to lose the match. But off the court, the duo hugged each other, showing a nice image of the sport.
Seeded players, including Ajay Nisank, Partha Sarathi Hansda, Santosh Mallick, Lalit Das, Nikkie Gargi and Ritika Nath lived upto their rankings by reaching finals or semifinals in all the seven events of the three-day tournament.
